Full Service Cleanings
Keeping your teeth and gums healthy is just as important as keeping the rest of your body healthy. In fact, healthy teeth and gums help keep your body healthy. A healthy mouth can add 10-15 years to your life!
In addition to regular brushing and flossing at home, routine dental cleanings by our hygienists remove a build-up of bacteria, what is called biofilm, to keep your teeth their sparkling best. As these cleanings clear away this harmful biofilm, plaque, and tartar build-up under the gumline, we treat and prevent a variety of problems including tooth decay and gum and bone infections. Consistent dental cleanings keep your teeth and gums healthy and can actually aid in the reduction of your risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and low birth weight babies.
Our hygiene staff uses the latest techniques to gently and carefully clean all tooth surfaces to improve and maintain your oral health. We also give special attention to dental cleanings with our younger patients.
In a full service cleaning, the patient receives a full scheduled hour with a registered dental hygienist. A registered dental hygienist is a full fledged healthcare provider that has had additional training beyond what a dental assistant does.
Many dental offices schedule dental cleanings on a reduced or minimal schedule with the dental hygienist and have the remainder of the time scheduled with a dental assistant. Unfortunately, this leaves the patient with a mediocre cleaning and is not in the best interest of the patient. Because of the reduced time or tasks being relegated to under trained staff, many important steps that make a thorough visit are left out.
With the complete hour scheduled with the registered dental hygienist at our office you will tell the difference that you are receiving top care. This is because she has the time to do a thorough job, take time to check periodontal measurements, check for oral pathology, answer questions regarding home care, dispense cleaning aids, perform fluoride treatments, to name a few.
